In honor of his 2010 Lifetime Achievement Grammy, The Reel Blues Fest presents a special tribute to legendary Delta Blues guitarist David “Honeyboy” Edwards, who will perform with the James Montgomery Band, Barry Goudreau (former member of the band Boston), guitarist Johnny A, the Uptown Horns (Rolling Stones horn section), and other special guests. Ernie and the Automatics, featuring Barry Goudreau and Sib Hassian, opens the show. The evening raises funds for musicians’ health care and first time filmmakers. Honeyboy, who at age 95 still maintains a heavy touring schedule, is Robert Johnson’s only living disciple and one of the last original acoustic Delta blues players. His life has been intertwined with almost every major blues legend, including Charlie Patton, Big Joe Williams, Rice "Sonny Boy Williamson" Miller, Howlin' Wolf, Peetie Wheatstraw, Sunnyland Slim, Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Walter, Little Walter, Magic Sam, and Muddy Waters,to name a few. He has influenced a lifetime of musicians and won numerous awards, most recently a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album of 2008.
